Kashi's Corner

Hello everyone,
I don't participate in Black Friday, way too many crowds. If you are brave enough to be out there, Good Luck and Happy Shopping! The news was crazy this morning, one shooting in California. People waiting to get in to Walmart. Not me. I prefer to hang out in Kashi's Corner.
We used to live in a great big house and I had my own room for storing all of my crafty pursuits. We knew I was going to have my knees (at the time we thought I would do both at the same time) replaced and I wouldn't be able to maintain the house. Or get up the stairs. Or fit in the bathroom with the walker. I could go on. We also knew I wouldn't be working for an extended period of time and would have to watch our expenses. I ended up staying home for four months and now am only able to work part-time. Eventually I can go back full-time, but I did have to leave a job that I dearly loved because I can't stay on my feet for long periods of time.  So we packed up and moved to our tiny little home. I do really like it here, but I really miss the space we had at the old house. This is Kashi's Corner...
I took over this corner of our living room when we first moved in. Here is a closer look at what I have packed in here, and I can honestly say it has gotten a lot better since I started the yarn diet. I won't let myself start anything new until the WIP's are done. Except for things people pay me to make.
   My Grandala blanket, almost done...
The Christmas present that may not get finished in time...
The Happy Ripple, which will be done in time for gifting...
This gorgeous needlepoint that I got for my birthday (last year). I wouldn't let myself start it because I had so many projects in the works. It is "The Lady and the Unicorn". I love it and do want to work on it. It is 3ft. by 4ft. though. I may not finish it until I am 60. Maybe I can do it as a One-A-Day. It is yarn after all.
Two sweaters I am working on for my friend's twin nephews. Isn't the bucket great? I got it for Christmas last year.
It holds 6 skeins at once and they won't tangle. Great for multi-colored projects.  This is not the only area I have taken over. The dining area wall is all mine too...
When we finally move out of here I might have to change my blog name to Kashi's Crochet or something, lol. For now this is it. Kashi's Corner. I hope you all enjoy stopping by. I love having all the visitors I have gotten since I started blogging in September. The comments have all been so kind and encouraging. If you are here in the States, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving weekend. If you are elsewhere in the world (most of my readers are) then I hope you have a fantastic weekend. See you all soon.
P.S. I am doing really well, I used to have so much stash that it was stacked about 3 ft. up in the corner where I sit. I am trying to concentrate on only two or three things at a time and I think I may get there soon.

Tuesday's Tallies

Hello,
Here we are again. It is really fun looking at everyone's Tallies right now. The projects are getting really big, some are done, and some are taking One-A-Day breaks to make Christmas stuff. If you want to see everyone's work then head over to Gingerbreadgirl's blog. She is the moderator for the One-A-Day group and she has a nice blog too.
I am still plugging away on my two projects. I am working on a whole lot of presents right now too, I have finished three, but still have a few to go. I am also out of the lavender yarn that I need for my Grandala squares. So here is what I have made this week...
I also put in some work on the Happy Ripple...

This is getting really hard to photograph. To put it in perspective, our couch is over 6 ft. long...
I love this blanket so much, one more picture...
I love both of these blankets so much, the Grandala is going on our bed. It is so close to being done. I have 230 squares done. Need 58 more. Not too bad. Maybe before Christmas, but probably right after.  Here is my shocker though. I love the Happy Ripple, really love it. I have decided to give it away as a Christmas present. It will be done this week I think. My husband helped me decide. I will tell everyone who I gave it to after the holidays. I love it, but I have an idea for another blanket and I have 5 blankets here in the house already.  It will be hard to part with though.
Well, that's it for today. I am going to go look at everyone's blogs now. Talk to everyone soon.

Sunday Sunday

Hello everyone,
I can't believe Thanksgiving is this week. I don't have any idea where the year went. I know I spent the entire summer couped up here in the house recovering from that knee replacement, but here we are about to start the holidays. Yikes. I have been busy making all kinds of goodies and I can't wait until I can actually show them to all of you. I joined my first swap over on Ravelry and it is with the We Love Lucy group. I am really excited about this and have already finished my present for my new friend Tracy. I had an idea of what I might make and then we got our information about each other this week and have been exchanging emails and I went shopping yesterday. Yea! I made the main part of her gift over the last three days and I hope she likes it. My husband saw it and liked it, that made me feel a bit less nervous.
My daughter has had a really rough week. On Monday she had to have a tooth pulled and that was no fun. Tuesday she seemed OK until the afternoon and evening. She started getting really cranky and kept crying for no reason. Wednesday she woke up with a sore throat, left eye swollen and mattery, and her face was a little swollen. My regular dentist was still out of town so I made an appointment with our family doctor and my husband took her in. She had developed an infection, the other dentist said it couldn't be because of the tooth she had pulled. My doctor said otherwise and put her on antibiotics. I don't know why the dentist said it couldn't be from the tooth. Even I know that with an abscess there can be infection in your body as well. She is doing better now and we have follow up appointments with our regular dentist and she will be fitted with a spacer since the new tooth won't grow in until she is 9 or 10.  Poor thing. I really don't know how the poor baby came up with teeth like this. In April at her check up she was fine. In September we were told she had 3 cavities and would have to have root canals and all that.
My daughter has been invited to another birthday party next weekend so this morning I made a scarf and hat for her friend.
I started by making these squares for a granny scarf...My daughter said it was ugly and didn't like it. I liked it but made something else anyway...
The hat was easy peasy and took 20 minutes to make. Truly..
The scarf took a little over an hour and a half, but I spent the morning at the laundry mat so it was the perfect project to kill time...Here it is..
  And on my favorite model...
I think her face is still swollen, she looks a little puffy to me. These are super easy to make and really warm. If anyone is interested in the pattern then leave me comment and I will post it. I made the hat up as I went along, I did write it down when Autumn said she thought it was cute.
I am really ready for some down time. Will has to work Thanksgiving Day so Autumn and I are just going to hang around the house. We will have a Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday for the three of us here at home. I wish my Mom could come for the holidays, but she is participating in a half-marathon the first week of December and has to get ready for that. Flying up here and being away from home would probably not work with her training schedule. I am proud of her though. I can't even walk a mile right now and she is doing a half-marathon. Well, this was a long post. I had better leave everyone to enjoy the rest of Sunday. I will see everyone on Tuesday for Tuesday's Tallies.
I wanted to thank everyone for their very kind comments and for my new followers. I still have a hard time believing anyone is interested in what I have going on. :)
